When you use Simplify Expenses, we collect the following types of information:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and profile picture provided through Google OAuth sign-in.
  • Expense data — transactions, amounts, categories, notes, and dates you enter into the app.
  • Receipt images — photos of receipts you upload for scanning and record-keeping.
  • Subscription data — recurring expenses you track, including billing cycles, amounts, and renewal dates.
  • Workspace information — workspace names, membership, and shared expense data.
  • Usage analytics — aggregated, anonymized data about how you interact with the app to help us improve the experience.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Simplify Expenses service.
  • Sync your expense data across your devices so you can access it anywhere.
  • Generate spending insights, analytics, and budget summaries based on your data.
  • Process receipt images to extract and categorize expense information.
  • Manage workspace collaboration and shared expense visibility between team members.
  • Send you important service-related communications such as account verification, billing updates, and security alerts.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure, encrypted cloud servers. We use industry-standard encryption both in transit (TLS) and at rest to protect your financial information. We regularly review our security practices and update them to address new threats.

While no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Workspaces & Shared Data

When you create or join a workspace, other members of that workspace can view expenses that have been shared within it. Workspace administrators can manage membership and access settings. Your personal expenses remain private unless you explicitly share them with a workspace.

Third-Party Services

Simplify Expenses integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Google OAuth — for secure authentication. We receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. We do not access any other Google account data.
  • Apple App Store & Google Play Store — for app distribution and in-app purchases.
  • Payment processor — for processing Pro and Team subscription payments. We do not store your full credit card details.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data and expense records at any time through the app.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Delete your account and all associated data. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
  • Opt out of non-essential communications.

Children's Privacy

Simplify Expenses is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of Simplify Expenses after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
